Such relief programs for students provide them with Income based repayment plans. If his income is low, then such a plan is absolutely beneficial for him. He will be able to pay his monthly payment as his income either goes up or drops. The amount in such relief programs is decided every year upon his annual income and his loan amount. If he has a very low income then under an income dependent plan, he is not required to pay anything.
